Introducing EPIC and HPC in the Cloud

21.03.17

The Centre for Modelling & Simulation (CFMS) and Zenotech will be holding a breakfast briefing on the topic of High Performance Computing (HPC) in the Cloud as part of its facilitated breakfast series. The event will take place on 21st March 2017, 8.30 - 10.30 hrs.

Cloud computing offers many advantages over in-house infrastructure and hardware, such as capex versus opex expenditure, instantly available and scalable access, and the ability to react quickly to changing business needs.

Delegates will learn about the benefits of HPC in the cloud and the different options, traditional and new, for accessing High Performance Computing (HPC). The event also includes a demonstration of the EPIC platform from Zenotech. EPIC provides secure cloud access to a range of HPC resources, from academic supercomputers to cutting edge cloud services. The business case around using external HPC systems will also be discussed and some of the common security questions answered.

The event is targeted towards existing users of HPC with an interest in HPC in the cloud to organisations interested in looking to expand HPC capability.

The event will be positioned as a breakfast briefing, consisting of structured presentations and demonstrations covering the key points as shown in the agenda:

08.30 Refreshments & Networking

09.00 What Exactly is HPC in the Cloud and Could it Benefit You?

08.45 Welcome & Introduction

09.30 Introducing EPIC

10.00 CFMS; An HPC Suppliers Perspective

10.10 Addressing Security in the Cloud
