This is a far more complex geometry than has been considered previously, and is more representative of a real car. In order to use this test case geometry, work is required before some of the standard meshing tools can be applied, which has been undertaken by CFMS and partners, and will be made available to workshop attendees.

CFMS DrivAer Automotive Workshop

For many years the Ahmed Body and the SAE Body have been used as the benchmarks for automotive aerodynamics. There are very few other commonly available automotive test cases - though recent and rapid advances in high performance computing are transforming the applicability of high fidelity simulation.

A new benchmark is now available called DrivAer, produced by Technische Universitat Munchen.

This is a far more complex geometry than has been considered previously, and is more representative of a real car. In order to use this test case geometry, work is required before some of the standard meshing tools can be applied, which has been undertaken by CFMS and partners, and will be made available to workshop attendees.
