More than 300 delegates have visited the National Composites Centre at the Bristol & Bath Science Park for a major export conference held by UKTI (UK Trade & Investment).

Amongst the speakers was the Minister for Trade and Investment, Lord Stephen Green, who promoted the recently announced “Exporting for Growth” prize.

Leaders of SMEs from across the region joined representatives of trade associations, Chambers of Commerce and the Local Enterprise Partnership at the state of the art facility, as well as advisors from banks, accountancy and legal firms.

Bonnie Dean, chief executive of the Bristol & Bath Science Park, said:

“It was very encouraging to see such a high level of interest from companies in the South West to increase exports from this region. The case studies and tips from the companies who presented provided a very compelling picture of the opportunities for new business through exports.

“We were very pleased that Lord Green visited the National Composites Centre at the Science Park and was able to see how significant national investment in new technology can create the environment to develop new commercial opportunities.”
