Tech entrepreneurs pay visit to 10 Downing Street
Two of Bristol’s most innovative tech businesses were guests at a special reception at 10 Downing Street, hosted by the Prime Minister.
The reception celebrated the UK’s most enterprising technology hubs and was attended by business leaders from around the country.
Paul McCafferty, co-founder of JustOne Database, which is based at Bristol & Bath Science Park, and Glenn Smith, the CEO of MapleBird, a virtual tenant of the Science Park, attended the UK Entrepreneurial and Technology Communities Reception this month (June 11).
JustOne Database is a relational database system for big data, while MapleBird is at the forefront in the development of the smallest Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in the world.
The visit came hot on the heels of a separate reception given by Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh at Buckingham Palace, attended by leading tech sector entrepreneurs from Bristol and Bath, including Mr Smith, of MapleBird.
Bonnie Dean, chief executive of Bristol & Bath Science Park, said: “It is fantastic to see cutting-edge technology companies from the region attending such high profile events. This illustrates the fact that Bristol and Bath’s vibrant and dynamic tech sector is attracting national attention. ”
