Science Park provides backdrop for trade mission film
Cutting-edge robotics firm MapleBird starred in a film shot at Bristol & Bath Science Park to promote a trade mission heading to California this week.
Eight of the UK’s most promising and innovative SMEs in Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS), which are ready to do business overseas, are taking part in the mission from June 23-27.
A strong contingency of South West-based companies has joined the trade mission. The film was used to promote the mission in the UK and United States ahead of the trip.
MapleBird, a virtual tenant of the Science Park, which is at the forefront in the development of the smallest Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in the world, is one of the businesses attending the mission.
Glenn Smith, CEO of MapleBird, said: “I’m thrilled to be able to be involved in this excellent opportunity to showcase the innovations of the region and the UK as a whole on an international stage.
"The South West is particularly well represented on the trade mission, illustrating the strength of the region’s robotics sector.”
Three of the businesses going on the mission are from the Bristol and Bath region.
The mission, organised by the Technology Strategy Board together with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), will see the companies embark on a week-long journey through San Diego, San Francisco and Silicon Valley to showcase their technology to peers, partners, investors and potential customers.
The film was created by Mighty Fine Productions and can be viewed here.
