Bristol & Bath Science Parks plays host to Your Green Future
More than 150 students will be visiting the Bristol & Bath Science Park today for this year’s Your Green Future event.
The two day event is attracting 13-19 year olds from a number of South Gloucestershire schools and colleges who are being encouraged to consider future employment opportunities in the ‘green’ economy.
The students will enjoy two days of innovative workshops and exhibitions, as well as interactive educational events promoting jobs in renewable energy, alternative transportation and manufacturing with sustainable or recycled materials.
As well as the chance to explore further education and apprenticeship options, the event will help to ‘bridge the green skills gap’ by addressing youth unemployment and ensuring a sustainable, low carbon future.
A number of local businesses have signed up to support Your Green Future by holding exhibitions and working with students in the interactive workshops. Voluntary mentors will also be sharing their expertise on the skills needed for ‘green’ industries and the courses students should take to enable them to pursue their career paths.
The event has been devised and developed by Severn Wye Energy Agency and is delivered alongside a wide range of business partners such as Caterpillar, Rotary International, BioPack, Siemens Marine Current Turbines, Foodcycle, Superdry, Fairtrade, Airbus, Better Food Company and Living Earth.
